xThe ComEth 4591a is a high performance ruggedized dual plane 3U VPX Layer 2/3 Ethernet switch developed in alignment with the SOSATM Technical Standard.

- 10GbE and 40GbE port configurations in copper and fiber
- Data Plane, 4 * Fat Pipe ports capable of 40GBase-KR4/10GBase-KX4/10GBase-KR/1000Base-KX operation. Note, each Fat Pipe can be split into 4 * 10GBase-SX ports
- Data Plane, 2 * Optical backplane Fat Pipe ports capable of 40GBase-SR4/10GBase-SR operation. Note, each Optical Fat Pipe can be split into 4 * 10GBase-SR/1000Base-SX ports
- Data Plane, Optionally, 2 additional front panel ports capable of 10GBase-SR/1GBase-SX (LC connector)
- Control Plane, 7 * Ultra-Thin Pipe ports capable of 10GBase-KR/1000Base-KX operation
- Control Plane, 1 * Optical backplane Fat Pipe port capable of 40GBase-SR4/10GBase-SR operation. Note, each Optical Fat Pipe can be split into 4 * 10GBase-SR/1000Base-SX ports.
- Control Plane, Optionally, 1 additional front panel port capable of 10GBase-SR/1GBase-SX operation (LC connector).
